I have an animal : Spaying & Neutering

Feline Fix was a Huge Success ! Seattle Humane Vet Performing a Spay for Feline Fix

Nov. 4 was a day of record turn-outs!  Not only are people showing up at the polls in full-force, but 77 people brought their cat to the Seattle Humane Society to participate in Feline “Fix” Day.  The one-day event provided low-fee spay/neuter surgery for low-income cat owners and included free microchip identification for each cat.

Only 75 appointments were initially available, but the Seattle Humane Society received such an overwhelming amount of interest that it scheduled another day of surgery next week for an additional 20 cats.  (Appointments have already been filled for that day.)  The Seattle Humane Society’s next Feline “Fix” Day is scheduled for Feb. 24.

Cats Waiting for Surgery"The Seattle Humane Society is a recognized leader in offering low-fee spay/neuter surgeries to King County citizens who would otherwise not be able to afford it,” said Brenda Barnette, chief executive officer for the Seattle Humane Society.  “We are committed to helping reduce pet overpopulation and helping cat owners who want to do what is best for their pets.”

Not only does spaying or neutering a pet keep them from producing unwanted offspring, but research has shown that altered pets are healthier and happier. In addition, microchips may help pets get home safely in case of accidental separation from their guardians. Cat owners can give their best friend the surgery and microchip that will offer them a longer and healthier life – and the price can’t be beat!  $25 for female spays and $15 for male neuters. Addressing Overpopulation With Low Cost Spay/Neuter Services

As a service to our adopters, we provide a free spay/neuter surgery with every adoption. We also offer free surgeries for cats, dogs and rabbits through a special program  for moms and their litters (scroll down for more details).
